Video: Here’s What Happens When You Call Your Mom Instead Of Text

Written by Chris D’Alessandro

Contrary to the opinion of that punk-rock guy who sat next to you in 10th grade history class, Mother’s Day is about more than just selling greeting cards. It’s about your mom.

It’s about what she means to you, everything she does for you and how much you appreciate her. It’s not about materialism. You don’t need greeting cards, flowers or a coupon for a spa day to tell her how wonderful she is (although she probably would appreciate all of the aforementioned). You just need to remind her how important she is to you.

Let’s face it, your mom just really wants to hear from you. Maybe you moved away or maybe you got so caught up with school that you just haven’t stayed in touch — but now more than ever, it’s important that you take the time to tell her ‘thank you’.

And texting doesn’t count.

Don’t believe it? We asked students to read out the last text they sent their mom, and then we had them give her a phone call.

It was interesting to see where students had left off their text conversations with their moms. Some were just sending a routine update. Some hadn’t spoken to them in a while. Everyone left the experience elated — refreshed even. So if you want to make your mom’s day, and yours, all you have to do is tell her what she means to you.

If you haven’t already, head over to our Thank You Mom & Dad contest and tell your loved ones what they deserve to hear. When you submit your letter, we’ll enter you for a chance to win $20,000 for the people you owe everything to.

And I think we both know your mom deserves a giant cheque after some of the shenanigans you’ve pulled over the years.
