It’s Back! Time To Say “Thank You Mom & Dad”

Written by Chris D’Alessandro

Your ‘rents, your guardians, your loved ones — call them what you will, but chances are they’ve been the ones supporting you along the way with their wallets and their hearts. And you owe them big time.

I’m no different.

Three years ago, my dad, a dude who never went to college himself, but somehow worked his way up from a warehouse shipper-receiver to an executive at a major telecommunications company, got an offer to leave his job with a generous severance package. He offered to buy me a new car (tempting), but I asked him to help pay for school in Vancouver instead. The ol’ boy gave me the ability, the opportunity and the confidence to pursue a passion. I was and am insanely lucky.

Watch Fellow Canadian Students Thank Their Loved Ones

Maybe it was your grandmother or aunt, your big brother or step dad, but chances are that somebody cares about you. They enabled you and they’re supporting you throughout your education, and at the very least, they deserve a big thanks.

Last year, we received thousands of touching, inspiring Thank You letters from students across Canada, and our grand prize winner, Taylor Losak, a student headed to Queen’s University, scored her parents $20,000 and a trip to Punta Cana.

This year, we’re partnering back up with RBC and giving away another $20,000. So imagine what it would feel like to pay back the loved ones you owe a thank you to with a giant cheque (yes, like the kind you see in movies).

If you guessed, “freaking awesome”, you guessed right. We’re officially launching the contest soon, which means that it’s time for you to get started on that Thank You letter.
