Hey Instagram Hotshot, Want to be in a Real Fashion Campaign?

Written by Samantha Moss

Is your Instagram LIT? Wanna get involved with #TopshopTuesday as a model or photographer or makeup artist? Email Sam.

Hi. My name is Samantha Moss and I dabble here and there in being wicked creative. Recently, I partnered up with Topshop | Topman and Student Life Network, and undertook a year-long fashion project, #TopshopTuesday. Our goal? To provide as many students as possible with an opportunity to showcase their creativity with fashion.

“What kind of student are you looking for?”

If you are a creative student looking to put some awesome work in your portfolio (not to mention the bragging rights of working on an actual Topshop campaign), or maybe you just have an undying passion for fashion, then I may have an opportunity for you.

Oh, and when I say models, I am not looking for GiGi Hadid’s doppelganger.

Every Tuesday, I’m responsible for infiltrating picture-content to be posted on SLN’s social media channels. I’m, looking for high-quality pictures to reflect my high-quality team and the high-quality clothing that we’ll be promoting. To achieve this, I am looking for people with photography experience or people wishing to gain some. I need “models” with fun, go-getter attitudes that are eager to wear some bold outfits.

Oh, and when I say models, I am not looking for GiGi Hadid’s doppelganger. I am looking for people that look like our friends, cousins and neighbours; people that the average student could easily identify with. If you like doing people’s make-up, I need you. If you have a knack for coming up with witty Instagram captions, I need you even more.

In simple terms, we want really sick photos with real students in them.

“What’s in it for me?”

In addition to free Topshop gift cards, you get an opportunity to expand your artistic horizons while producing work to include in your portfolios.

Nothing but good things, my friends. Essentially, I have a weekly budget comprised into TopShop gift cards that I am to use at my own discretion. I think the best way to go about this is to divide up the goods equally amongst my team on a post-to-post basis. In addition to free Topshop gift cards, you get an opportunity to expand your artistic horizons while producing work to include in your portfolios.

“How does it work?”

For every post that I submit to SLN, I will include your names and social media handles to ensure that you are credited for your work. SLN will post our pictures on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. We encourage but do not require you to post the photos on your own social media, but if you’re proud of the work that you produce, why wouldn’t you?

Some of our work:

I do not study fashion at Ryerson, or photography at OCAD. I am not a professional make-up artist or a communications expert. I am a starving, third year Legal Philosophy student at McMaster University just trying to find my muse within the creative sphere. With a slight background in visual arts, (I have attended a few arts schools in my day) I would describe my artistic skills as: mediocre at best, with much room for improvement. So, I am excited to grow and to learn from all of my fellow Millennial influencers that are interested in working with me!

If you would like to participate in the TopShopTuesday project, please contact me at:

Or, we can keep it casual and you can hit me up on Facebook.

Cheers!

Samantha Moss
